In the afternoon, we continued to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania with its wooden houses and where the residents wear traditional dress.
The chateau of Trakaiis is a red brick defensive building on an island in lake Galve. The earliest castle was built in the 13th century, but this was destroyed. The second Castle, built in the 15th century was hoe to the Grand Duke of Lithuania and still stands.

Our final appointment that day was to a 'cultural event' where there was much music, drinking, singing and dancing.
